Progress Report of Course Restoration

Despite the recent weather conditions work continues on establishing the new 4th Green and Fairway.

The 4th green has now been re-built and all drainage on the green finished. The new irrigation system for the 4th green has been installed, the green and surround has been turfed.

The water has now receded back to the practice area and work has now been started on leveling the 5th and 18th fairways.

All we need now is a period of milder weather and it is hoped that we will be able to returf the 4th fairway and 5th tee.

59th Queen Elizabeth Coronation Trophy Schools

Lenzie Academicals achieved their first victory in the 59th Queen Elizabeth Coronation Trophy Schools FP foursomes at the Royal Burgess, Edinburgh, with a 2-1 victory over four times previous winners Daniel Stewart’s Melville FP in the final.
The Lenzie side featured half of the six strong side which finished runners-up in 2004.
David Wylie and Graeme Stewart had a chance to win on the 18th in the deciding middle match but eventually secured the trophy with a par 4 on the first extra hole.
Lenzie’s results:
First round: Won 2-1 v Old Carthusians
Second round: Won 2 1/2-1/2 v Edinburgh Academicals
Third round: Won 2-1 v Breadalbane
Semi- final: Won 3-0 v Merchistonians
Final: Won 2-1 (1st extra hole) v Stewart’s Melville

Clyde FC Golf Day 2011

The fifth Clyde FC Annual Golf Day took place at Lenzie Golf Club on 6th May and once again was a most enjoyable occasion.

Despite some team call-offs, over £8,500 was raised in total from the raffle, auction and entry charges. The feedback received on the day was excellent and the club is confident that there will be an even bigger turn out in 2012.

The date for next year’s event has been provisionally set for May 5th and any interested groups can book now by contacting a Clyde official.

Bully Wee director Neil Watt and lifelong fan Dougie Donnelly were amongst the winners as part of the Hacking & Paterson team. The runners-up were Bobby Lennox with John Dunn, Jim Carmichael and Brian Lynas (James Carmichael Solicitors). Another Clyde fan, Gerry Dunn was part of the third placed group (Fontaine Fifth Wheel).

Club director and event organiser, Frank Dunn thanks all the volunteers who helped make the day a success.

Equality Law Information Night

EQUALITY LAW INFORMATION NIGHT:

Equality Law 2010 and its implications for Lenzie Golf Club.

This meeting will introduce and explain the proposed changes to membership categories prior to the AGM.
